Help your children grow up healthy

GetNHealthy with Aetna

Many children in the U.S. are overweight or obese putting them at greater risk of serious health problems such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease and type 2 diabetes. That’s why Aetna and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation are teaming up to help children grow up healthier and develop healthy habits that last.

Your children may be able to receive up to four nutrition counseling and four weight management sessions** from their own pediatrician or family doctor if they:

  • Are between the ages of 3 and 18
  • Are covered under the LM HealthWorks Plan
  • Have a body mass index (BMI) that is too high for their age and gender (greater than or equal to the 85th percentile).
  • Have not had bariatric (weight loss) surgery

In most cases, these sessions will be conducted by your child’s own doctor. You and your child will learn how to:

  • Eat healthier foods
  • Control food portions
  • Exercise in ways that are fun and fit their lifestyle
  • Better manage their weight

Additional support is available for children who qualify

Children who do not achieve a healthy weight after completing the nutrition counseling and weight management sessions can benefit from more comprehensive, clinical weight management counseling. To qualify, children must have completed the eight sessions and be diagnosed as obese or morbidly obese (above the 95th percentile for their age and gender).

If your covered dependent is eligible and might benefit from this program, you may receive a call about the GetNHealthy program and how to participate. You can also call the LM HealthWorks Plan at 1-877-458-4975 with any questions about the program.
